Slade Gorton : Not Y2K Compliant

From Education to Health Care, Social Security to the Environment, Slade Gorton is out of touch with Washington's families. As the 2000 elections heat up, one thing is certain: Slade Gorton is not Y2K compliant.

This year alone, Gorton has voted against shoring up Social Security and Medicare in favor of a massive tax cut. Gorton voted against a Patient's Bill of Rights, responding to the $224,000 in contributions he has received from the insurance industry throughout his career.

Gorton has tried to bypass federal law to help a Texas company open a strip mine in Okanogan County. In a truly tacky display of fundraising, he toured the state with NRA President Charlton Heston just weeks after the Columbine tragedy. Gorton, not surprisingly, voted against common sense handgun reforms.
