Tahoe City, CA -- Placer County prosecutors have formally charged former
Libertarian governor candidate Steve Kubby and his wife with felony drug
violations.
Kubby, who's 52, was arraigned in superior court yesterday for cultivating
marijuana and related felony charges, with his 32-year-old wife, Michele.
They were arrested after a search of their Olympic Valley home turned up
about 300 marijuana plants and cultivation equipment.
Their attorney said the Kubbys grew marijuana for legal medicinal use and
will plead innocent to the charges.
Kubby was a key proponent of California's medical marijuana law.
