Stay connected to the movement. Hemp-talk is a discussion list about cannabis, hemp, and drug policy activism in Washington State. Created in 1996, it's been connecting activists in our state for over ten years.

This list receives the news articles we post to the Hemp.Net web site. No more than four articles per day and no discussion whatsoever.

All lists maintained on Hemp.Net are open, meaning anyone (the man) may subscribe. Disrespect and personal attacks are not tolerated. If the moderator asks you to follow the "List Etiquette" guidelines that are occasionally posted, don't get sassy.

Local Activism

A hotbed of cannabis activism, Washington State is home to many organizations working to bring about rational drug policy. Here are some things to get involved with:

Initiative 75, passed by Seattle citizens in Sep. 2003, set up the Marijuana Policy Review Panel to monitor the effects of the law and suggest ways to further rational drug policy in the city. The next panel meeting is Tuesday, April 10, 2007.

Roger Goodman, director of the King Co. Bar's Drug Policy Project, won a state legislative seat in the 45th district. Congratulations!

King Co. Bar Association Drug Policy Project has done amazing work educating the "suits" about the failure of our prohibition model of drug policy, and the need for a regulatory model of drug policy.

Seattle Hempfest, the largest cannabis policy reform rally on the planet, is the third weekend in August on Seattle's waterfront.

Olympia Hempfest is a week after Seattle's big bash.
